Horizons of action – the fire is still burning. Indigenous cultural rights – artistic, legal, political and philosophical aspects. Indigenous experts, Swedish and international participants contribute with their perspectives on cultural rights, discuss and point out the direction forward.

Viermie K invites cultural actors in Sápmi and Nordic countries, international and indigenous experts, Sami culture organizations and artists, government agencies, politicians, civil servants, researchers and professionals as well as citizens with an interest in the Sami community. This meeting continues to contribute to the future of Sámi cultural rights.

Ownership of the narrative - the importance of Sami self-governance in cultural management and funding by Maria Utsi, Sámi cultural worker and -leader from Deatnu (Tana), Norway. A reflection on Sámi performance, higher education and cultural rights by Dirk Gindt, Professor Theatre Studies, Department of Culture and Aesthetics, Stockholm University.

IN CONCLUSION, the report Conditions for Sami Culture proposes five measures:
Strengthen the entire Sami cultural life
Create a Sami competency centre
Create a resource centre for Sami languages
Make information about activities more widely available and strengthen organizers
Establish a nomadic meeting place for Sami culture and Sami artists.
