Jåhkåmåhkke is the location for this year's KulturSápmi

On September 18–20, 2024, the fifth KulturSápmi takes place, this year we meet in Jåhkåmåhkke (Jokkmokk).

The event has become increasingly important and is Sami artists' own arena for raising common and urgent issues.

Registration is open, if you register by August 12, 2024, you will receive free accommodation and meals. The number of places is limited and many have already signed up.

Viermie K receives a three-year operational grant

Starting from 2024, Viermie K will receive an annual operational grant guaranteed for three years. This is thanks to a decision by Kultur I Norr (the regions of Norrbotten, Västerbotten, Västernorrland, and Jämtland Härjedalen).

Viermie K and Kultur i Norr have been collaborating since 2019 to strengthen the Sámi cultural sector. In its Position paper, Kultur i Norr previously identified the enhancement of Sámi cultural life as one of three priorities for northern Sweden.

The collaboration has brought the professional Sámi cultural scene closer to institutions on the Swedish side of Sápmi, evident through joint participation in cultural events, among other initiatives.

Sámi cultural meeting day with the 4th Cultural Policy Summit in Stockholm

On November 30, 2022, Viermie K organizes a full day at Södra teatern. We gather the professional cultural life with organizers and enablers for knowledge exchange and business opportunities.
Before lunch the 4th Cultural policy summit Summit 2022 will take place and in the evening a concert with Mari Boine.

Report:Conditions for Sami Culture

In order to strengthen the Sami culture sector, we need to know the territory. That is why Viermie K and Kultur i Norr have produced the report "Conditions for Sami culture". The report is now also available in English.

The report, which is the first of its kind, by Tomas Bokstad, is based on the Sámi cultural view, the needs and the conditions to be able to analyze and make suggestions for change.
